Portraits capture the essence of a person: their personality, core being, beliefs, triumphs, and failures in the still moment a photograph is taken. Their presence at that moment is captured in perpetuity. It is a moment to frame, worthy of keeping once it is captured. I find the idea of being a part of capturing a person’s fundamental state in that moment of their life a worthy and worthwhile pursuit. I am most drawn to portraiture because of these qualities.
